We''ve come across a variety of ways to keep your tree happy while away on vacation.
- for evergreen trees, water well and place in the fridge;
- bring the plant into indirect light, water well and loosely wrap the pot and dirt with plastic wrap to keep moisture in but not to suffocate the roots:
- place an extra large baking pan (turkey sized) in a tub, put a couple inches aquarium gravel in it and and fill with water just to the top of the gravel. Water the tree well and place ON TOP of the gravel NOT IN the water. Close the shower curtain and have someone check it once a week. A clear plastic shower curtain in a bathroom with ample indirect light is best.
Reports have suggested that they only need checking or watering once a week using these methods, altho I would prefer have them checked at least twice a week by a dependable friend.
